Ukar Bratakusumah
Ir.R.H. Ukar Bratakusumah is a child of Rd. Muhammad Bratakusuma and Mrs. Rd. Kusumah Ningrum. He is the 5th child out of 10. He is known to be humble, always mingling with the ordinary people around him even though he was born from a noble family. He is a West Javanese figure who at the same time holds two important positions, namely as Governor of West Java (December 1948-1950) and the 14th Mayor of Bandung (1947–1949). How can he become a governor while holding a position as a mayor? It's because when the Dutch troops occupied the republic, Ukar escaped the Dutch capture. He was then appointed by the Emergency Government of the Republic of Indonesia as the Governor of West Java while replacing R. Mas Sewaka. As for his work during his time as mayor is a bridge that stands on the Citarum Dayeuh Kolot River. In addition, he also moved the government building from Subang Regency Village, Kuningan to Diponegoro Street.
